The Cardinals don’t need any motivation going into Game 5. They have a chance to end the NL championship series. They have a chance to become the NL champs for the second consecutive year, for the third time in seven years, and for the fourth time in nine years. They have a chance to win the 19th NL pennant in franchise history.
However … from a practical standpoint, and a personal standpoint, it would be in the Cardinals’ best interests to end the Giants’ season tonight at Busch Stadium. Leading the NLCS 3-1, the Cardinals need to finish the job.
