Early 'Birds take the field in Jupiter

JUPITER, Fla. • There is still a week to go before pitchers and catchers are required to report to Camp Cardinals for spring training, but the sounds on the field and cars in the parking lot reveal a different schedule.

The migration has already started.

Yadier Molina, who has a residence in Jupiter and spent most of the offseason here, was among the major leaguers who took the field for brief workouts this morning on the Cardinals' side of Roger Dean Stadium. He was joined on the field by Matt Carpenter, who took his first grounders as a second baseman, and righty Trevor Rosenthal.
