STL Today: Garcia is weighing medical options




WASHINGTON • Lefthander Jaime Garcia consulted with New York orthopedic surgeon David Altchek on Thursday, informing him recent discomfort in his left shoulder has manifested itself in ways different from what forced Garcia to the disabled list in June.

Garcia, who was removed from the playoffs shortly after lasting only two innings in his Game 2 start against the Washington Nationals, said no decision has yet been made about whether to pursue surgery and that he may pursue an additional consultation with Dr. James Andrews.

"It's my shoulder and ultimately the decision is mine what to do," Garcia said shortly after the Cardinals' loss in Game 4 of the National League division series. "I don't have that answer yet."
