For a few moments it seemed the Blues would have an easy Monday night in Los Angeles.
Captain David Backes scored just 72 seconds into the game. Then T.J. Oshie converted the first Blues power play for a quick 2-0 lead over the Kings.
Alas, their good times did not last. The Blues lost their defensive edge and allowed the game to open up.
The Kings converted 2-on-1 and 3-on-1 rushes to tie the game before the first intermission. They kept coming and coming, eventually breaking through in the third period for a 4-3 victory.
