PHOENIX • The Cardinals conducted their final workout of the spring on a peaceful Sunday afternoon at Chase Field, easily breaking a sweat in the soothing warmth of the Arizona sun.
It was a time of quiet and hopeful anticipation. A carefree lull before the pressure arrives with 2013’s first pitch. It was a last chance to take stock, savor the major-league feeling, and loosen bodies and minds to ramp up for today’s season-opening game against the Arizona Diamondbacks.
It was good to see, and know, that baseball is back.
And so are the Cardinals.
