Unlike big beer-drinking holidays like July Fourth and Mardi Gras, Thanksgiving presents a beer-sharing opportunity.
It’s a chance to uncork your favorite large-format bottle and pass it around the table, to pop a favorite brew to pair with turkey and all its fixings, or to find an after-dinner sipper that will impress your Scotch-loving father-in-law.
Here are 10 beers — five local, five from other states — that are worthy of sharing this Thanksgiving.
LOCAL
Civil Life Alt: Brewed to commemorate the south city brewery’s first anniversary, Alt, the German word for old (head brewer Dylan Mosley cheekily named it We’re 1 Year Alt), is interesting and noticeable without being overbearing and overpowering. Alt has an almost-gingerlike aroma and a malt-forward flavor that accentuates both savory and sweet foods. Draft only.
