Cards prospect Freeman shut down by tendinitis

ST. LOUIS • Cardinals prospect Sam Freeman has been shut down for the fall because of tendinitis in his left biceps, a soreness that ends his turn in the Arizona Fall League just as he was selected for the league's annual all-star-type game.

Freeman, who is on the 40-man roster, had a 3.86 ERA in seven appearances in the Arizona Fall League.

He struck out eight and walked one for the Surprise team.

He has struck out four of the 10 lefties he's faced. Those lefthanded hitters also have four hits off of Freeman.
