Thanks to the NHL lockout, the daily routine of Blues coach Ken Hitchcock and his staff has become a bit monotonous.
Therefore, Hitchcock had been looking forward to this week for some time. Not because of the Blues' regular-season opener, scheduled for Thursday in Colorado. With no end to the labor negotiations in sight, that trip was considered unlikely weeks ago. But while Hitchcock isn't allowed to be coaching his team currently, it didn't stop him from being a coach this week.
A three-day series of free seminars, which Hitchcock had been planning in his mind long before the lockout, wrapped up Thursday with more than 150 area youth coaches making their way through the Blues' practice facility.
