CHICAGO • New Blues defenseman Jay Bouwmeester arrived in the Windy City at 8 p.m. Wednesday night and was on the ice with the club for the first time this morning.
"It was good, No. 1 just to get back on the ice," said Bouwmeester, who was acquired from Calgary in a trade Monday. "I had a couple of days just sitting at home. But it was good. Everyone here has been real welcoming and it seems like a really good group."
Bouwmeester took the early bus to the United Center, in part, because he had some new equipment to break in. "Make sure all the stuff works," he said. "And we're playing a big rival tonight, so you jump right into it. Should be fun."
