Matt Carpenter finishes 6th in Rookie of Year vote

Cardinals utility fielder Matt Carpenter received one vote and finished tied for sixth in the National League Rookie of the Year Award race, which was one of the closest in the award's history.

Washington teen phenom Bryce Harper won the award, edging Arizona starter Wade Miley and Cincinnati third baseman Todd Frazier for the honor. Harper received 16 of the 32 first-place votes, and Miley, a lefty who won 16 games, received 12. Harper appeared on all 32 ballots submitted by members of the of the Baseball Writers' Association of America. Mile appeared on 31 of the 32 ballots.
