Mabry named Cards hitting coach

The Cardinals officially announced today they have promoted John Mabry from assistant hitting coach to hitting coach. He replaces Mark McGwire, who is expected to be named the hitting coach for the Los Angeles Dodgers.

The Cardinals also made official today what the Post-Dispatch reported Friday: Blaise Ilsley, formerly the Class AAA pitching coach at Memphis, has been named bullpen coach. He replaces Dyar Miller, who was not retained.

The rest of the uniformed coaching staff for manager Mike Matheny will remain the same, with Derek Lilliquist to return for a second full season as pitching coach, Jose Oquendo for his 14th season as third-base coach and Chris Maloney for his second season as first-base coach.
