ST. LOUIS • A record the 2006 St. Louis Cardinals set as the World Series champions and held through five Octobers was finally broken this fall.
The San Francisco Giants, who swept Detroit for their second World Series title in three seasons, will receive a players' pool payout of $23.5 million from postseason revenues, and the Giants have elected to carve that up into 50 full shares. Each share is worth $377,002.64, according to Major League Baseball, and that eclipses the previous high for an individual share of $362,173.07, one set by the '06 Cardinals.
